Clayton State University is seeking an energetic and engaging leader for its continuing education program. The Executive Director of Continuing and Professional Education reports to the Provost and is responsible for leading lifelong learning opportunities and non-credit programming for the University. The programming is primarily offered at locations in Clayton, Henry and Fayette counties and includes the Digital Media Program that prepares students for careers in the film industry.
This Continuing education unit includes open enrollment, online and hybrid non-degree classes and certificate programs that provide professional development and lifelong learning opportunities for the Southern Crescent of metropolitan Atlanta. In addition, the unit provides conference services and customized training for business, industry and government agencies.Responsibilities
The Executive Director is responsible for the needs assessment, development, administration, and marketing of non-degree program and the related recruitment and evaluation of instructors for delivering the programs. In addition, the director has the fiscal responsibility to manage a self-supporting budget for the unit, serves on the leadership team of the University and is integrally involved in community outreach and partnership development. The specific job responsibilities are as follow:
- Identify new market and program opportunities
- Identify and onboard instructors and trainers
- Develop and implement marketing plan for the unit
- Work collaboratively with credit granting units on campus
- Develop and manage the budget to ensure that the unit is self-supporting
- Implement contract review process and ensure compliance
- Develop industry and company specific programs
- Troubleshoot issues with learners and/or instructors
- Ensure quality program offerings
- Enhance the non-credit digital media program
- Secure and/or assist with managing external grants
- Ability to coordinate and implement courses at instructional sites
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Job Specifications:
- Master’s Degree required
- Experience in continuing education and/or workforce development is required
- Experience with budget planning and fiscal management a must
- Experience in grant writing and administration a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively with Colleges and other units is critical
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
