The Department of Elementary Education seeks applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position for the 2019-2020 academic year beginning August 1, 2019 through May 14, 2020. Faculty rank will be either Instructor or Assistant Professor and dependent upon credentials.

Position will be responsible for teaching elementary education courses and clinical supervision experiences for undergraduate majors.

Required Qualifications

Education Specialist or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Reading Education and five years public school teaching experience in an elementary school (Instructor level).

OR

Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Reading Education and three years public school teaching experience in an elementary school (Assistant Professor level).

Preferred Qualifications

Previous college teaching experience.

Previous experience mentoring or supervising pre-service teachers.

Position Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time, fully benefited (30+ hours) Standard Hours 40 Compliance Requirements

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.

Position Requires a Criminal Background Check.

Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Essential Duties of the Position

The duties below reflect 90% of the employee's responsibilities. There is an additional 10% reserved for professional development and any other duties that may be assigned.
