Southern Connecticut State University seeks an Associate Dean for the School of Education. This position assists the Dean of the School of Education with the administration, operation, promotion and evaluation of programs, personnel and budgetary matters of the School.
The ideal candidate will prepare documentation and oversee internal evaluation and external accreditation activities for state, national, and professional accreditation. The candidate will work closely with department chairs and program directors to assure the effective, efficient and client friendly operation of all units and to maximize cooperation and coordination of operations.
The candidate will quickly and professionally respond to the suggestions, inquiries and complaints of students, faculty and staff as assigned or approved by the Dean.
The responsibilities will include compiling and analyzing data related to the operation of the School and preparing reports, information and materials requested by the Dean of the School. The candidate will also represent the Dean of the School as assigned and perform other duties and responsibilities related to those listed above which do not alter the basic level of the position.
The candidate must possess an earned doctorate in education or related field with successful university level teaching experience in a tenure track position. Successful teaching experience in a public school (N-12) desirable.
Knowledge of and experience with current state, national (NCATE and CAEP) and professional accreditation and certification policies, procedures and processes in educator preparation is required. Strong written and oral communication skills and computer literacy required; high level of technological proficiency desirable. Candidate must have demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collegial environment with students, faculty, staff, administration and the public.
