**Open only to internal candidates at University of North Texas Health Science Center**

The Center for Human Identification was created in 2004, formally integrating the efforts of the Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology and the Laboratory for Molecular Identification. In addition to providing investigators with important information regarding cases, the anthropological data are used to refine molecular analyses within the CODIS system. This collaboration has created a unique resource for the identification of missing persons and unidentified remains, and is available to law enforcement agencies and medicolegal entities charged with the investigation of death across the nation. Additional support is also available to agencies through the Center's Forensic Services Unit.

Position Details
The Microbiology, Immunology & Genetics Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Assistant Professor to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Perform academic excellence in research and teaching in the field of Genomics, with a focus on forensic genetics, and provide service related activities within and outside UNTHSC.
* Participate in the research and development program and support service activities of University of North Texas Center for Human Identification.
* Develop and teach curriculum related to Genomics and the Forensic Genetics program.
* Maintain scholarly activity (i.e., research) and keep up to date with developments in the field as necessary to carry out the duties of the position.
* Support activities within the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification.
* Communicate University of North Texas Center for Human Identification programs and issues in a public forum.
* Promote and be in accordance with UNTHSC values, upholding high professional standards and leading by example.
* Work with students as members of a cooperative learning community for high class education and an excellent student experience.
* Maintain own continuing professional development.
* Maintain a safe work environment, including ensuring compliance with legislation and the undertaking of risk assessments.
* Pursue, develop and lead research, innovation and impact at an appropriately professional level in the fields of Genomics and Forensic Genetics.
* Develop a strategic direction with own research focus area.
* Collaborate within and outside the school and faculty.
* Maintain a high quality record of regular and original research publications of external standing as appropriate to the fields of Genomics and Forensic Genetics.
* Seek outside research support in an individual and/or collaborative manner to support high quality research.
* Provide high quality postgraduate supervision.
* Attract Genomics and Forensic Genetics students to the University.
* Take part in technology and knowledge transfer activities to support the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification, where appropriate and feasible.
* Produce scholarly publications in peer-review journals within the fields of Genomics and/or Forensic Genetics.
* Attend professional meetings.
* Develop and lead higher order thinking approaches to learning and teaching.
* Provide course lectures in a relevant experience area of bioinformatics, population genetics and forensic genetics.
* Play a significant role in the design, development and planning of courses/modules within forensic genetics.
* Provide timely feedback and assessment of coursework and examinations.
* Provide general support and guidance to students.
* Supervise students undertaking research projects as appropriate.
* Contribute to the overall administrative and support work of UNTHSC and/or equivalent external organizations by representing the school and faculty on appropriate committees and groups and activities.
* Promote the values of UNTHSC.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
* Doctoral degree from an accredited institution appropriate for Genomics studies with a demonstrated record of achievement in computational science, population genetics and forensic genetics.
* At least 1 year experience related to forensic genetics research.
* Multiple publications in high impact journals relevant to the fields of Genomics and Forensic Genetics.
* Active research in forensic genetics.
* Currently funded by an external agency.
