Job Title3-D Design/Sculpture Part-time Faculty

Job Description SummaryThe Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching 3-D Design/Sculpture I-II beginning Spring 2019. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

***Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. ***
•The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment.
•The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.
•During the academic year part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 11.5 ESH (equivalent semester hour) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year.
•During summer part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 10 ESH (equivalent semester hour) for both sessions combined.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach 3-D Design or Sculpture I and II
  • Adhere to college curriculum and course outcomes
  • Manage classroom attendance and record grades in a timely manner
  • Use Blackboard for course management
  • Communicate effectively with students and colleagues using email
  • Provide advising to students

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master of Fine Arts (or equivalent degree) in visual arts or sculpture
  • College-level teaching experience in the visual arts. (Graduate school experience is acceptable, but applicant must have been the instructor of record.)
  • Experience teaching college-level 3-D and/or sculpture classes.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate computer/digital technology into course delivery.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional activity in the visual arts.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching, or demonstrated ability to teach, all levels of 3-D and sculpture.
  • Experience in teaching, or demonstrated ability to teach digital sculpture processes.
  • Experience working with students of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience supporting underprepared students.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
  • College-level teaching experience preferred (Graduate school teaching assistant experience is applicable if applicant was the instructor of record);
  • Experience teaching at a community college or teaching diverse student populations;
