Introduction
As an independent, interprofessional graduate school of healthsciences, MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) prepares healthprofessionals and scientists to advance care for a diverse society throughleadership in education, clinical practice, research, and community engagement.

The Opportunity

The Dean of Enrollment Services is a member of the Institute’s executive team. The Dean works with institutional leaders to ensure an innovative and coordinated enrollment program. The Dean is also responsible for enhancing Institute recognition and visibility within its various constituencies. Position Overview – Dean of Enrollment Services

Summary of Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of Enrollment Servicesprovides strategic leadership in the areas of student recruitment andadmissions, enrollment marketing, and high-quality registrar, student accounts,and financial aid services for enrolled students. The Dean assures continuity,accuracy, and compliance with policies and regulations, with a high priorityfor student service, convenience, and satisfaction. The Dean oversees budget, personnel, andoperations for each of the key operational units in the Office. The Dean servesas the Institute’s chief enrollment advisor on matters related to enrollment ofstudents in full-time and part-time, online, on-campus, and hybrid programs. Workingclosely with the Provost on planning and strategic matters, the Dean alsocollaborates with the academic programs, Office of Strategic Communications,Office of Finance and Administration, Office of Information Technology, andOffice of Student and Alumni Services to assure a distinctive and successfulstudent experience, while assuring that strategic enrollment-related businessgoals are achieved.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provides effective strategic leadership of an outstanding enrollment services team for all academic programs.
  • Leverages data systems and collaborative input to project and build a successful enrollment and financial aid model in line with institutional needs for planning, budget, and programmatic considerations.
  • Work closely with the Provost to address trends and issues in health professions education.
  • Assures that the student body is of high capability, diverse, and prepared to enter and be successful in strong, competitive, and demanding professional programs.
  • Aligns recruitment, admissions, and enrollment procedures to ensure a student body who supports the Institute’s goals for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Oversees enrollment marketing to promote new and existing academic programs in a seamless, timely, and effective manner.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness on data reporting, planning, and quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with the academic deans, chairs, and program directors to assure that there is strong alignment between enrollment management initiatives and programmatic needs, with careful attention to assuring effective communication and collaboration among academic and administrative units.
  • Identifies opportunities for articulation agreements or related initiatives to advance strategic and business goals and works to achieve their execution and successful fulfillment.
  • Designs and execute an annual budget consistent with institutional priorities and in collaboration with the Office of Finance and Administration.
  • Assures that senior leaders are advised of critical trends and opportunities related to admissions, registration, bursar, and financial aid functions.
  • Serves on the Executive Council, Academic Council, and Academic Leadership Council, as a visible, participatory, and valued member of these leadership teams.
Measures of Success:
  • Successful recruitment of a diverse pool of high-qualityapplicants for all programs.
  • Attainment of student enrollment projectionsannually in conjunction with academic leaders.
  • Fiscal responsibility in the management of the Office.
  • Recruitment, retention, and development of asuccessful Enrollment Services staff.
  • Student, administrative, and facultysatisfaction with services provided by the Office (measured by exit surveys,360 evaluations, and annual performance reviews).
Supervisory Responsibility:
Direct supervision of 4 FTEs with potential for staffgrowth.

Fiscal/Budget Responsibility:               

  • Development of an annual plan for enrollmentthat supports the IHP budget process.
  • Manage the Office of Enrollment Services budget.
  • Responsible for collaborating regularly with theacademic programs and Office of Finance and Administration to achieveenrollment targets.
Enrollment Overview
The Office of Enrollment Services is located in Building 34in the Charlestown Navy Yard. Directly reporting to the Dean are the Registrar,Director of Admission, Director of Financial Aid, and the DepartmentCoordinator. A professional and administrative staff of 20 are housed in EnrollmentServices. Each year, the Institute processes approximately 3,200 applications,enrolls approximately 600 new students, and awards approximately $6 million ininstitutional scholarships and $39 million in student loans.  The Office offers counseling and financialeducation services for students.

The MGH Institute, which is accredited by the New England Commission on Higher Education, has more than 1,600 full- and part-time students. Since its founding in 1977 by Massachusetts General Hospital, it has produced more than 7,700 graduates.


The IHP is the only degree-granting affiliate of Partners HealthCare, New England's largest health care provider, founded by Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, and which also includes Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and North Shore Medical Center.


The MGH Institute believes that knowledge begins with discovery through research. The Institute’s faculty engage in original clinical research — much of it collaborative and interprofessional — aimed at ultimately improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human disorders and disabilities.


All academic programs promote interprofessional teamwork through the school's unique IMPACT Practice model and offer personalized attention in a rigorous, collaborative learning environment that is driven by IHP faculty's professional expertise and scholarly accomplishments. The academic experience is further enriched by the diversity of its students' backgrounds and life experiences.


The MGH Institute boasts more than 182,000 square feet of classroom and laboratory space spanning seven buildings, including a dedicated research center and research labs for grant-funded scholars. On-campus functional-living, rehabilitation and simulation labs use state-of-the-art technology and equipment for teaching and assessment activities. These labs allow students and faculty to engage in active learning across the curriculum.


In addition, the school also houses pro-bono primary care and rehabilitation centers, where students receive real-world experience treating clients from underserved surrounding communities. The rehabilitation centers and labs are all in the new Dr. Charles and Ann Sanders IMPACT Practice Center.

QualificationsEducation and Experience Qualifications:

    Graduate degree in higher education leadership and administration or related area; earned doctoral degree preferred.

    Minimum of five years of progressive enrollment related leadership experience.

    Proven track record of successful management of enrollment functions.
