Description

The School of Nursing at MGH Institute of Health Professions invites nominations and applications for the position of the Jacques Mohr Endowed Professorship in Geriatric Nursing. Jacques Mohr’s gift to the School embraces his belief that quality care for the elderly was an essential part of nursing. We are seeking a leader in the field who can bring national and/or international stature to geriatric research and education at the School of Nursing. The endowed professorship supports a distinguished scholar who will advance knowledge through a sustained program of research on health of the older adult.  The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty and interdisciplinary researchers to develop the scholarship of gerontology; and teach selected courses or classes in his or her area of expertise as needed and depending on level of external funding. The candidate will help shape the Institute’s interprofessional practice in providing care to the older adult in our Nursing Center for Clinical Education and Wellness and the Impact Practice Center.

The position offers the opportunity to conduct interprofessional research at the Institute with colleagues in nursing and the rehabilitation sciences. The Boston area is rich in terms of other research opportunities for collaboration. Nursing colleagues in Partners Healthcare at the Munn Center at Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as in many community sites are other sources of potential collaborators and provide a network of scholars for this important work.  The successful candidate will have protected time to conduct his/her research and access to competitive start-up funding, discretionary and travel funding, and post-doctoral student support. The salary for this endowed faculty professorship is commensurate with the candidate’s rank and experience.

The School of Nursing offers primary and acute care tracks in Adult-Gerontology as part of the Direct Entry Master’s program and intends to strengthen content in the prelicensure programs.  The School of Nursing and the Institute have several nationally recognized faculty with research and clinical expertise in gerontology including our president, Dr. Milone-Nuzzo. Several faculty are fellows in the Gerontological Society of America.
