Job Summary/Basic Function

The purpose of this position announcement is to build a qualified pool of instructors to fill teaching needs as they arise. This position is not designated for a specific course or semester and therefore the screening and selection process is ongoing.

Maryville University is accepting applications for Online Adjunct Instructors to teach in the Nurse Practitioner Program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to instructing the course based on provide curriculum and assisting students in achievement of course objectives; moderating and guiding student interaction in course-related work groups and discussion forums; scheduling and hosting office hours through use of conferencing tools, grading and providing feedback. Practicum course responsibilities include establishing contact with students’ preceptors, verifying student hours and assessing clinical tracking notes.

Applications are being accepted from candidates who have both teaching and industry experience as a Nurse Practitioner working in the following fields:

Adult/Gero Acute Care – Primary Care
Psychiatric-Mental Health
Pediatrics – Primary Care
Adult/Gero
Family

Applications will also be considered for experienced faculty in Health Care Policy, Health Promotion/Disease Prevention, Leadership & Quality, Evidence Based Practice and Nursing Theory. Applicants must have an RN and Advance Practice degree or Terminal degree.

Minimum Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner track:

Currently Practicing as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult/Gero, Family, Pediatrics, Adult/Gero Acute Care, or Psych-Mental Health.
Minimum of two years’ experience working as a licensed NP (graduate school experience does not apply).
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, unencumbered license in home state.
Special consideration will be given to those with licenses in the following states. AZ, AL, LA, MA, MN, NE, NV, OK, OR, PA, SC, WA and or a multi-state licenses.
Demonstrated ability to coach and assist students in achieving their academic goals.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

For Core Courses:
RN and Advance Practice degree or Terminal degree.
Demonstrated ability to coach and assist students in achieving their academic goals.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree from accredited institution in a related field.
Current State Licensure: State licenses or willingness to obtain licensure in the following states preferred: AZ, MA, MN, NE, NV, PA, OK, OR,SC, WA and/or multi-state status license.
Experience using Canvas or other relevant online course delivery platform.

Adjunct Instructors will be provided orientation and training on the Canvas LMS and will be required to complete a self-paced online training course covering techniques for online facilitation and student engagement.
