The Peer Supplemental Instruction (PSI) leader will be focused in the Information Technology discipline but may serve any of the following STEM gateway courses: BIOL 1107K/1108K, CHEM 1211K/1212K MATH 1111/1113 and ITEC 2140.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Attend mandatory PSI leader training before the beginning of the semester.
  • Plan and lead PSI sessions to review course content with students. These sessions will be held outside of class time and will require preparation of learning activities.
  • Attend lectures on the PSI course for which you are preparing sessions.
  • Assist students in lab with laboratory research skills lab exercises.
  • Attend mandatory faculty-leader meetings
  • Assist in data collection to monitor students’ attendance and progress in PSI throughout the semester.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must be enthusiastic about working with fellow students in an academic setting and must show evidence of excellent communication skills.
  • Successful completion of ITEC 2140 and MATH 1111/1113 required. If also proficient in CHEM 1211K/1212K and/or BIOL 1107K/1108K, may be involved with those sessions as well.
  • Completion of General Education Area A, with outstanding performance in prerequisite math, information technology and/or laboratory science courses.
  • Must be enrolled a minimum of 6 credits at Georgia Gwinnett College in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sophomore or Junior standing and experience and interest in collaborative student learning.

Position requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.
