This position is for a Postdoctoral Fellow, to support the NIH-funded research in the laboratories of Drs. Robert Anholt and Trudy Mackay at the Clemson Center for Human Genetics. The successful applicant will have expertise in Drosophila quantitative genetics, gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9, and next generation sequencing analyses (library preparation and bioinformatics).

Job Duties:

Design oligonucleotide guides for CRISPR/Cas9 knock out with DsRed and allelic replacement in multiple genetic backgrounds. Supervise technician in generating and maintaining gene edited stocks and performing phenotypic assays of organismal quantitative traits. 30%

Perform DNA and RNA sequence analysis of newly generated Drosophila stocks and their control lines to quantify any off-target effects. 30%

Develop independent research project. 20%

Write manuscripts reporting research results, including statistical analyses and preparation of figures. 15%

Supervise technician and graduate student team members. 5%


PhD and experience in Drosophila genetics; CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing; publications from PhD dissertation.
