Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered when adjunct and/or substitute instructors are needed to teach motorcycle safety courses. Adjunct instructors are hired on a per course basis. All interested candidates must live within driving distance of the CVTC campuses.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain positive rapport with the public, training sites, community and promote motorcycle safety and safety equipment.
• Stay current with First Aid training and CPR certification and be prepared to respond to crashes and injuries during a course.
• Wear appropriate apparel and safety gear while instructing in the classroom and range.
• Design and implement effective learning strategies and environments.
• Deliver instruction of high quality.
• Assess student learning.
• Advise students.
• Maintain classroom and equipment as appropriate.
• Participate in college activities and pursue ongoing professional development.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to spend extended periods of time (five hours) on the range.
• Ability to up-right a training size motorcycle.
• Ability to perform basic motorcycle maintenance.
• Ability to operate a five-pound dry chemical fire extinguisher
• Ability to plan for and deliver quality instruction.
• Ability to facilitate and assess student learning.
• Ability to manage the classroom effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the internal community.
• Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with external community.
• Ability to model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices.
• Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives.

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology used for communication, grade entry, and teaching; including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint and SIS.

• Proficient motorcyclist riding a minimum of 9,000 miles each 3-year Wisconsin Certification period.
• Own and maintain one’s own motorcycle.
• Possess and maintain a valid Motorcycle license and satisfactory driving record.
• Successful completion of a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach Instructor preparation course, or completion within 6 months of hire if not already completed. • CPR and First Aid certified or be willing to obtain certification within 6 months after attaining RiderCoach Certification.
• Meet MSF Standards and follow the RiderCoach Code of Ethics as well as the Wisconsin Administrative Rule Trans 129.
• Subject to an instructor qualification evaluation at least once every three years upon receiving authorization from the DOT.
• Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
