The Library’s Technology & Systems department houses the Cataloging and Acquisitions units in addition to other functions. We are responsible for ordering, cataloging and processing all library materials. The goal of these units is to provide appropriate resources for the college community by maintaining and enhancing the library collection and the FLO catalog.

The Technical Services Student Assistant is a valued member of our team, and performs the following duties:

•Receive new shipments and compare box contents with inventory sheets
•Process new library materials
•Search databases
•Enter metadata
•Barcode, stamp, sticker, and cover books, DVDs, etc.
•Deliver books to library
•Ensure quality control of the online catalog and physical collection
•Other duties as assigned

The Technical Services Student Assistant performs most job duties in an office setting and not the main library space. S/he is asked to develop a regular work schedule during office hours, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

The qualified candidate demonstrates her/his attention to detail, ability to focus, prioritize tasks and work independently. Knowledge of the following software: Microsoft Word and Excel; Windows operating system.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous library experience and knowledge of library systems or databases are preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands

Occasional lifting of boxes, pushing book carts, and shelving videos in high capacity media cabinets.

Salary $12 per hour Posting Detail Information
