This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before one year from start date, with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Under the general direction of the Enrollment Services Admission Directors’, the incumbent will determine admission eligibility for international applicants applying to self-support programs through the College of Extended Studies (CES). The primary responsibility will be to work on the American Language Institute (ALI) Conditional Admission programs. In addition, other programs might include: SDSU Georgia, College of Business Undergraduate Administration Online Degree undergraduate program and the Interwork Institute’s Interdisciplinary Studies in Three Departments undergraduate program. This individual will also assist with the application and admission review process for the CES self-supported degree graduate programs managed in Enrollment Services. The incumbent will assist in processing and determining admission eligibility for international applicants, through records evaluation and communication with applicants, faculty and other institutions as appropriate. The incumbent will work closely with the American Language Institute, College of Extended Studies and other campus departments. This individual will review correspondence, supplemental information, evaluate transcripts, test scores and evaluation service reports to determine admission eligibility. This individual will address questions from faculty and staff related to established admission deadlines and admission and requirements. The incumbent will review admission processing reports on a daily basis to track application and admission process for CES supported programs.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,271 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,115 - $5,475 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Prior experience working in a university admissions office.
- Experience analyzing data to determine eligibility for services and/or benefits.
- Prior experience working with international students in a university/college setting.
- Possess at least one year of professional experience reviewing academic transcripts for admission to a university or program
