The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) at Washington State University is embarking on the accreditation and development of a next generation medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever changing healthcare landscape. The School is now inviting applications for the position of Curriculum Specialist who will join the Curriculum team in leading the college into the future.

The Curriculum Specialist will support faculty in the design, development and delivery of the medical school curriculum based upon best practices.

The incumbent will support faculty and administration in teaching, including case writing, clinical course design, and assessment & evaluation.

The incumbent will work closely with faculty, staff, and clinical locations to ensure all aspects of the medical school curriculum are coordinated consistently across the distributed campuses and clinical locations including LMS and Course Management systems, as well as, provide scheduling coordination.

The College
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is Washington’s premier community-based medical school. It is named after the university’s late president, Elson S. Floyd. Dr. Floyd believed that Washington State University, as the state’s land-grant institution, should train doctors to serve all of Washington.

The mission of the School is to: Develop practical solutions to challenging problems in disease prevention, health care access and delivery; Train primary care physicians who will work in Washington and help alleviate a shortage of doctors, especially in rural and under-served areas; and Develop a strong research component, with faculty members who work on innovative projects, sharing what they know with students in classroom and research settings.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree with major study in specific instructional area; or equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, Biology, Social, Physical, or Health Sciences, or closely related field.

Demonstrated experience with educational technology systems including Learning Management Systems.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Instructional Design and Academic Technologies in a medical school.

Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Higher Education Administration, or closely related field.
