This position is responsible for the assuring the security of the JSMOA WSU building, and exhibition contents, staff and visitors. This position works directly with the Associate Director and WSU Law Enforcement to ensure compliance with all established security protocols, policies and procedures. Provides recommendations regarding creating any new requirements and will create security plan, policies and procedures. Supervises all Gallery Attendants and Security Interns.

Tuesday-Saturday schedule, 9:00am-6:00pm, and must be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications

Three (3) years of experience as a Security Guard 1 OR two (2) years of experience as a Security Guard 2 OR high school graduation or GED and three (3) years of experience in areas of work such as: security guard, correctional officer, or store investigation, or, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work. A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission; or, a certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military training program will substitute for one year of required experience. A valid driver’s license is required.

Additional Requirements

Demonstrated interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to provide counsel and remain neutral in situations involving interpersonal conflict.

Must be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Must pass comprehensive background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a museum environment.
