The Creamery Assistant Manager reports to the Creamery Manager and is responsible for the development and execution of the three divisions of the WSU Creamery, namely retail sales (Ferdinand’s), direct marketing and production including providing support, oversight, and fiscal management. This position has the authority to act in the absence of the Creamery Manager, and has primary responsibility for planning, organizing, and managing the current activities supporting the overall aspect of the Creamery mission. The Creamery Assistant Manager supervises staff and temporary/student employees.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: executing and evaluating shipping, receiving, storage, delivery, customer service, quality control, cash control, order taking and fulfillment functions; provide support on special event weekends; establishing training goals and objectives; preparing sales reports, and participating in strategic planning.

Required Qualifications

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two (2) years of progressively responsible relevant experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Business, Hotel Restaurant Administration or closely related field and two (2) years experience in dairy or food processing, food service management or business management. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license.

Demonstrated supervisory skills and experience supervising people.

Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated computer skills.

Must have, or be able to obtain within 14 days of hire, a valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit

Must obtain fork lift operator’s certification within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years experience in dairy or food processing, food service management or business management.

Prior experience in PC networks.

Prior experience in AS400 operations/applications.

Prior experience in Dairy or Food Manufacturing or Service.

    Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

    Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

    Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
