Job Details
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a temporary, one-year Clinical Instructor in Medical Oncology for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Washington State University. The position will start as soon as a qualified candidate is identified. The position will share responsibility for directing the oncology service (including case management, supervision of staff, residents and interns, coordination of the clinical and teaching service with other sections of the hospital, and interactions with referring veterinarians). The position will participate in didactic teaching and may provide an opportunity for scholarly activity in the form of independent and/or collaborative basic and/or clinical research.

COLLEGE OVERVIEW: The WSU College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM),
www.vetmed.wsu.edu, is organized into five departments, including VCS,
Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology (VMP), Integrative Physiology and
Neuroscience (IPN), the School of Molecular Biosciences (SMB), and the Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health, each dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service. The mission of VCS is to serve the community through education and through generation and dissemination of new information, for the benefit of animal and human health and well-being.
AREA OVERVIEW: Washington State University is a PAC-12 school and a
land-grant institution with an enrollment of approximately 22,000 students on its Pullman campus and another 5,000 students statewide. The University of Idaho, also a land grant university, is located in Moscow, Idaho, 8 miles from the Pullman campus. These communities offer a friendly, small-town living environment and access to a rich assortment of cultural, recreational and athletic attractions. Pullman has a four-season climate, clean air, good schools, affordable homes, and a low crime rate. The candidate must possess a DVM or equivalent degree and be board-eligible or certified in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Medical Oncology). A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people in a team atmosphere is also required
Preferred QualificationsPreferred qualifications include board certification in ACVIM (Medical Oncology), an advanced degree, and evidence of expertise in teaching.

WSU's student body statewide is ethnically diverse: 31 percent of our students are underrepresented minorities, and first-generation students represent nearly 33 percent of the total enrollment. Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced
Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.
Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
