Position Title Adjunct Instructor-Earth Science Position Category Faculty - Adjunct (Variable Hour) Summary

Under departmental direction plans, prepares and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course assigned; possibly including Introduction to Geology, Introduction to Geology Lab, Introduction to Oceanography, Introduction to Oceanography Lab, and Introduction to Meteorology. Instructs, manages and supervises individuals and groups in the classroom through demonstration, discussion, visual aid, individualized instruction, lectures and other appropriate methods. Evaluates instructional materials including course outlines, syllabi, exams, visual aids, study guides as necessary. Is available for student consultation and attends faculty meetings as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Geology or a closely related area and one year of teaching or closely related professional experience.

OR

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Geology or a closely related area and two years of teaching or closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of appropriate course material of classes taught.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and techniques.
    Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision making skills.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate student course work and classroom performance.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Requirements

Mild to moderate lifting
Light to moderate walking
