Position Title Specialist - Parent Communication GEAR UP Nebo School District Position Category Staff - Part-Time (Variable Hour) Summary

Utah Valley University is searching for an individual who works with the GEAR UP program. Under the general direction of the GEAR UP Counselor, this position works with parents of students who are enrolled in the GEAR UP program through communication, development of informational events, creation of parent council, and acts as a positive role model of parent involvement. Interacts with students and/or faculty using discernment, follow through and decision making; and performs duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required and 1 year related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge working directly with adult parents of minors in low income households. Effective written an oral communication skills. Ability to travel as needed to meet with parents, deliver information or encourage participation.

Preferred Qualifications

Three to five years experience working directly with adult parents of minors in low income households. Fluency in Spanish, both speaking and writing.

Physical Requirements

Ability to frequently sit, stand, and walk. Must be able to continuously see, hear, and talk.

Benefits Summary

You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.
