Conducts recreation activities for individual and group participation.

As a guide, minimum education and experience include graduation from high school and prior experience leading recreation activities.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Qualifications for MarineQuest Summer Camp Instructor/Counselor Staff are specific to the individual positions in each category. Applicants should review each individual position’s qualification requirements at:

Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position

Lifeguard Certification preferred and in some cases required (must be signed-up for a certification course withing 30 days of returning signed Letter of Agreement)

First Aid and CPR Certification (Certifications must be obtained by June 1, 2019)

Must complete online training modules and attend MarineQuest staff training held June 1st – June 8th

Preferred formal education or training, professional skills and work experience

Knowledge of marine sciences is a plus
Experience teaching K-12 students

Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of bachelors degree or equivalent

Work HoursHalf-day positions: 7:45AM - 12:15PM Monday – Friday Full-day 7:45AM - 4:15PM Monday-Thursday, and 7:45AM - 1:45PM FridayWork DaysDaytime positions: Monday-FridayHours Per WeekHalf-day positions 25 hrs, Full-day positions 40 hours, with possibility of 5 hours overtimeType of PositionRecruitment Range$8 - $12/hour - (dependent on qualifications and specific position)Special Instructions to Applicants

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.

Pay varies by position and is based on qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additional compensation includes housing and some meals when working.
