Posting Number F0600912 Position Title Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Exercise Science Department Health, Physical Education & Recreation FLSA Exempt General Description

This HPER faculty position is an entry level (Assistant Professor) appointment. Duties include teaching 12 credit hours per semester, student advisement, engaging in scholarly activities and professional service, and working on departmental, college and university-wide committees. The candidate will teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate Exercise Science curriculum, which may include exercise prescription, introduction to fitness testing, kinesiology, exercise leadership and others. Additional responsibilities include maintaining office hours in accordance with university policy, and performing other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. Applicants should have a high commitment to effective classroom and online teaching, student advising and mentoring, curriculum development, research/scholarship and professional activity. Review of applications will begin in January 2019 and continue until the position is filled.

Essential Job Duties Additional Duties Knowledge Skills and Abilities Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field is required. Background in teaching at the university level (undergraduate as well as graduate), as well as experience with program development and student mentoring, especially at the graduate level is desired.

Organization

Established in 1830 as LaGrange College, the University of North Alabama has a rich history including the distinction of being the first state-supported teachers college in the South. The school's 130-acre campus is located in the historic district of Florence, Alabama, on the Tennessee River. Students come from around the country and world, but UNA is largely a regional university with about 70% of students coming from Alabama. Students can choose from more than 60 majors with professional fields in business, education, and nursing being most popular.
