The Department of Applied Business Sciences and Economics in the College of Business and Public Management at the University of La Verne seeks a candidate to fill a tenure-track position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in the fall of 2019. The Department seeks an individual who strives to be an outstanding teacher and scholar. The successful candidate must have earned or be expected to earn a Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB accredited institution by July 2017 and demonstrate the ability to publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals, to teach effectively in graduate and undergraduate programs, and to provide service to the University and community.

The College of Business and Public Management (CBPM) is growing and is positioning for pursuit of AACSB accreditation. The candidate selected will have an opportunity to join a committed and diverse faculty, to play a key role in planning the future direction and growth of the College, and to participate in collaborative research projects, and outreach to the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. CBPM seeks candidates whose teaching, research, and service have prepared them to contribute to the University’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity in higher education.

Specific Duties

The workload is split into 60/30/10 with teaching representing 60% of the workload, research and scholarly activities 30%, and community service and community engagement 10%. Faculty is expected to teach six courses per year at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in Management from an AACSB accredited institution or be expected to earn a Ph.D. by July 2019.
2. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Experience working with a diverse student body is desirable.
3. Candidates should have a well-defined research agenda and potential to publish in quality peer-reviewed journals within the area of expertise.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and internal equity. Benefits include a comprehensive health and wellness plan, tuition remission program for employee, spouse, and dependent children, a generous 10% contribution to the University’s 403B retirement plan, and a generous time off plan.
