Nature of Work

The Assistant Professor of Nursing assumes responsibility for classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction as well as teaching, advising, scholarship, and service requirements within the BSN program. This is an academic year position with tenure-track appointment.

Essential Duties

oTeaching in BSN or RN-to-BSN programs
oUse student-centered teaching/learning strategies
oSupervise nursing students in the clinical setting
oConduct regular office hours
oParticipate in advising students
oParticipate in Service-Learning activities
oParticipate in assessment and scholarship activities
oServe on college and school committees
oUse active/applied learning strategies when teaching

Minimum Qualifications and Training

oMust have a Master’s degree in Nursing and be eligible for a Georgia Nursing License.
oCandidate should exhibit expertise in clinical practice, research and education, and have the ability and desire to teach in creative and innovative pre-licensure baccalaureate and RN-to-BSN (online) completion programs.
oCandidate must have commitment to service-learning, student-centered learning/teaching methods, and assessment.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

Doctorate in nursing or a closely related field.
Teaching experience, recent clinical experience, and research activities in the areas of medical-surgical or critical care nursing.
Must have experience teaching gerontology, fundamentals, medical-surgical nursing, research, and/or health assessment.
The ability and commitment to use technology and web-based teaching is also preferred.
