Position Information

Position Title Assistant Professor of Biology, Tenure Track FLSA Exempt Primary Responsibilities

The Biology Department at St. Lawrence University invites applications for a tenure- track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 15, 2019.

We are interested in hiring a broadly trained biologist to work with a dynamic team of staff to teach the fall and spring semesters of General Biology. General Biology is our two-semester introductory course sequence for all majors and covers topics in Ecology, Evolution, Organismal Diversity, Conservation Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics and Physiology. In addition, the successful candidate will either develop or contribute to the teaching of two upper-level courses for majors in the candidate’s area of expertise. Candidates may have a background in any area of biology including, but not limited to, evolutionary biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or molecular ecology.

Preference will be given to candidates with proven success in incorporating a variety of teaching techniques that engage lecture sections of 100-150 students, and who are sensitive to teaching first year students from a diversity of educational backgrounds. The candidate is expected to set up a vibrant research program that involves undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Biology is required at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

Post-Doctoral teaching and research experience is preferred.
