The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Digital Art. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a “pool” of applications for positions which are needed on an ongoing basis at Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College. The advantage of “pool” positions is when a position becomes available, the Dean may immediately begin screening applications from the available pool of applicants without having to post a position and wait while the position is being advertised. Your application for this position will be kept current for a period of three years.Duties and Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. 1. Teach day and evening sections of art with an emphasis on digital mixed media, two-dimensional drawing and composition, painting, design, color theory, and two or more of the following: figure and portraiture, western or non-western art history or other selected art classes both on campus and online
2. Design and implement a digital art laboratory for both fine art and graphic applications
3. Develop new curriculum in digital art
4. Modify art curriculum as needed, including student learning outcomes and assessment processes
5. Participate in the development and/or selection of course materials, equipment, and technology that will enhance the offerings of the art department
6. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office and lab hours
7. Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies and curricula
8. Participate as a member of department, division, and college committees
9. Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needsMinimum Qualifications
• Possession of a Master’s or above in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor’s in one of the above AND Master’s or above in humanities OR the equivalent (see below)
(NOTE: ‘’Master’s in fine arts” as used here refers to any master’s degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the “Master of Fine Arts” (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing or other non-plastic arts.)
