Position

PLEASE NOTE
Ohlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitments. Assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses and may be in-person, online or blended courses.
As staffing needs arise, our Deans will review the pool and contact those applicants they are interested in interviewing. There are also times that adjunct faculty are needed to fill a last minute void as well. Therefore, departments are better able to communicate their most recent teaching needs at the time of interviews.
Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements listed in order to be considered for the pool of qualified candidates. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements are not automatically accepted to teach at Ohlone. As this is for a pool of applicants, it may take time before you hear anything.

This is a part-time, faculty counseling position reporting to the Dean of Counseling and Special Programs. The duties cover the full range of general counseling responsibilities including academic, career, and personal counseling to a diverse student body. Assignment may include special population counseling (such as Veterans, International Students, etc) and/or teaching personal development classes. Note: Part-Time Faculty position applications are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District and will be added to the application pool for review by hiring departments on an as-needed basis. Desirable QualificationsDuties and Responsibilities

(May include)

•Provide comprehensive counseling services to students (both individual and groups) including academic, career, and personal counseling on a drop-in and appointment basis;
•Assist students to clarify educational goals, interpret assessment results, develop educational plans, and select courses;
•May be assigned teaching responsibilities for Personal Development courses and/or learning communities;
•Participate in the implementation of transfer, career, and Student Success activities at the college;
•Prepare, update and maintain Student Education Plans (SEPs);
•Provide follow-up services to students on probation, subject-to-dismissal and dismissal statuses;
•Assignments are on an as-needed basis and may be during the day, evening or on weekends at any location where the District provides educational services.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent*.

(NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

Transcripts issued outside the United States require a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from a certified transcript evaluation service verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA. Benefits Statement
