Adjunct Instructor - Spanish

Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.

Job Summary and Description

Adjunct (part-time) faculty to teach courses in Spanish. Depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments may be on LCC’s downtown campus, at an extension center (within 40 miles of the downtown campus), and/or via online delivery methods. Adjunct faculty are expected to work collaboratively with senior department faculty to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi, to deliver course instruction to students, and to be available for student assistance and advising outside of class. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required:
  • Master’s Degree in Spanish (from a regionally accredited institution) or a Master’s Degree in related field (second language acquisition, linguistics and language pedagogy) with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish studies. Coursework within the degree must reflect competencies in the courses to be taught.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom and must be able to use the technology required for the assigned course(s).

Alternative Qualifications:
  • If the candidate is in a PhD program in Spanish or a related field, without having a Master’s Degree, then a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish studies is an alternative to the minimum Master’s Degree qualifications. The coursework within the graduate hours must reflect competencies in the course(s) to be taught.
