The Department of Economics and Finance, located in the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College, is responsible for teaching a variety of support and major courses primarily at the undergraduate level. The department offers a BA and BS degree with a major in economics, as well as, a minor in finance.

Primary Purpose of Position

This position will provide teaching support for the undergraduate business core curriculum, as well as, courses in the financial economics concentration of the economics major and the finance minor.

Teaching a mixture of six courses per academic year that include Business Finance I, Business Finance II, Investment Analysis, International Finance, Financial Markets and Institutions, and Money and Banking. The primary mode of instruction is through traditional face to face classes. Publishing is required for promotion and tenure. University service is also expected.

This faculty member will also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non‐majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Minimum Requirements

Proposed Minimum Experience/Education

Ph.D. or DBA from an AACSB-accredited or similarly accredited institution. Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org) (faculty credentials). (Minimum 18 graduate semester hours in the academic discipline of finance.)

Department Required Skills

A Ph.D. in Finance is preferred before the effective date of employment. The successful candidate is currently anticipated to be assigned teaching responsibilities primarily at the undergraduate level. The position requires teaching and research in the field of finance. We also value research collaboration with undergraduates. An active scholarship program is required along with university service.

Teaching experience is desirable.
