Assistant Basketball Coach 1 or 2

Assistant Coach 1 - $2,500 stipend per semester
Assistant Coach 2 - $5,000 stipend per semester
based on education and experience
Temporary Employment Retirement: Employee Contribution to Apple 3.75%Employer Contribution to Apple 3.75%
Summary Under the direction of the Director of Athletics and the Head Coach, assists the Head Coach with assigned intercollegiate sport.
Position Duties


Assistant Coach 1
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advise and instruct students on theory and practice of assigned sport.
  • Coach is only responsible to coach at practice and during games.
  • Assist and support the Academic Success Program.
  • Assist with recruiting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of this position.

Assistant Coach 2
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advise and instruct students on theory and practice of assigned sport.
  • Remain current in theory, coaching and the subject matter and technique of effective instruction through participation in professional development.
  • Coach is only responsible to coach at practice and during games.
  • Assist and support the Academic Success Program.
  • Assist with recruiting.
  • Assist with conditioning and weight training program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of this position.

Assistant Coach 1

Qualifications Knowledge and SkillsRequires interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Requires the skill to work with constant interruptions. AbilitiesRequires the ability to work with a diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability and religious backgrounds of community college students. Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff, both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community organizations. Physical AbilitiesRequires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. Requires the ability to push, pull, and guide materials over 75 pounds. Requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch on a regular basis. Requires near and far visual acuity to read printed materials, moving objects, and observe work-in-progress. Requires speaking and hearing to carry on ordinary conversations. Requires the ability to reach overhead above the shoulders and horizontally. Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to use a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Education and ExperienceAssociate's degree and two years of experience coaching at
the high school or collegiate level. Intercollegiate playing experience may be used to supplement coaching experience. Licenses and CertificatesRequire a valid driver's license. Requires CPR and First Aid certification. Working ConditionsWork is performed indoors and outdoors (athletic field, classroom and virtual classroom environment) where some safety considerations exist. Physical contact with athletes.
Assistant Coach 2

AbilitiesRequires the ability to work with a diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability and religious backgrounds of community college students. Ability to implement contemporary teaching methods and technologies. Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff, both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community organizations. Physical AbilitiesRequires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
