The Division of Comparative Pathology, Tulane National Primate Research Center, Tulane University School of Medicine, Covington, LA invites applications for non-tenure or tenure-track position in Anatomic Pathology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Primary responsibilities of the position include: 1) participating in the diagnostic service of the Division, 2) pursuing independent research, 3) collaborating with other investigators on the design, implementation and interpretation of diverse biomedical research projects, and 4) training of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and residents in anatomic pathology. The relative emphasis on each of these components is negotiable depending on the applicant’s interests and expertise. The individual selected will join a very active research group that includes several NIH-funded faculty members and numerous collaborators, both domestic and international. The Division of Comparative Pathology is actively engaged in several areas of nonhuman primate research including AIDS, tuberculosis, biodefense, Lyme disease, immunology, and regenerative medicine.


Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a D.V.M. (or equivalent) degree and American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) certification. Preferred applicants will also have a Ph.D., and a strong interest in establishing an independent research program in infectious diseases. Ability to successfully pass and maintain a Security Risk Assessment (SRA) background check through the Criminal Justice Investigation Service of the Department of Justice in order to use, transfer, or store biological select agents and toxins. Must be able to maintain a personnel suitability profile including successful pre-assessment and ongoing assessment of suitability for work with select agents considered TIER 1 select agents.
