SummaryThe Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) offers a nine week Summer Veterinary Program from June through early August, 2019 to a limited number of veterinary students interested in working in the Division of Veterinary Medicine. The program introduces veterinary students to nonhuman primate medicine.
Successful Program candidates are paired with a TNPRC faculty veterinarian and are exposed to all aspects of diagnostic and clinical veterinary medicine including regulatory issues, colony health surveillance, research support, and clinical nonhuman primate medicine, surgery, and pathology. At the end of the program, students will be expected to present a short case report to the Centers faculty and staff. Timeline:Application Deadline: February 1, 2019Program Date: May 31, 2019 - August 2, 2019 (9 weeks)Attendance is required for the 9 week duration, only apply if you can make this commitment. Applicant Prerequisites:- Completion of the first, second or third year of veterinary school. Preference is given to students in the second and third years.
- Motivation to learn laboratory animal medicine, specifically nonhuman primate medicine and surgery in a research setting.
- Own transportation and housing arrangements
