Summary

The Health Data Analyst is part of the Tulane University Campus Health team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as a core institutional value through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach. The Health Data Analyst resides within the Well for Health Promotion, and reports to the Director of Public Health Initiatives and Assessment. The individual in this position is responsible for providing data collection and maintenance, and evaluation, assessment, and research initiatives.

 

The Health Data Analyst provides assessment and evaluation expertise to all areas of Campus Health. This individual will work with Campus Health team to develop qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments, assist with data collection, conduct data analysis, and develop reports and presentations based on the findings. The Health Data Analyst serves as one of the Co-Chairs of the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee along with the Director of Public Health Initiatives and Assessment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, administration, epidemiology, statistics, information management, finance, quantitative methodology, or related degree and 1 year in public health or related initiatives
OR

  • High School diploma/equivalent and 7 years data analysis experience in public health or related initiatives.
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in public health, administration, finance, epidemiology, statistics, or related graduate degree
  • Knowledge of current and emerging college health issues, environmental management/prevention strategies, health behavior change theories/ecological framework, and evidence-based practice.
  • Experience in higher education setting
  • Experience working with medium-large datasets (10k observations/rows of data or greater).
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Two years of experience with a data analysis software package (SPSS, SAS, R, STATA)
  • Experience conducting research through an Institutional Review Board (IRB)
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT related medical terminology
  • Experience in survey design and implementation
  • Experience in leading focus group-related activities
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and maintain data from a variety of sources in both the quantitative and qualitative fields through, but not limited to the following sources: local surveys, national surveys, electronic medical record databases, and focus groups
