The department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama (UA) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in support of research thrusts in the areas of water (climate and hydrologic modeling) and resilient infrastructure. Candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Preference will be given to candidates that have research interests in areas such as modeling climate-water- human interactions and methodologies to predict and mitigate natural hazard impacts to the built environment. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in developing a nationally‐recognized, externally funded research program. The University of Alabama has recently established new faculty-led cooperative research organizations including the Alabama Water Institute, the Alabama Transportation Institute, and research centers in areas including complex hydro systems, water quality research, public safety community preparedness, and sustainable and resilient infrastructure.

Established in 1831, The University of Alabama currently enrolls over 38,000 students and employs over 1,700 full and part-time faculty members in 13 colleges and schools. In 1837, UA became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, the College of Engineering is comprised of seven academic departments with over 6,000 students and will be home to more than 150 tenure/tenure-track faculty following the current search. The College occupies well over 500,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities with research and instructional space, including the $300 million Shelby Engineering and Science Quadrangle completed in 2014 and the newly reopened $22 million renovated H.M. Comer.
