The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama seeks applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure-track appointment. Sought are applicants with a promising record of research and teaching that will contribute to the departments’ growing expertise in addiction science. Applications from candidates with specializations in marriage and family therapy, prevention science, and/or public policy are specifically encouraged.
The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, conducting, and publishing research, including procuring internal and external funding; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses in the Addiction and Recovery major; mentoring graduate students; and engaging in service at the campus, community, state and/or national level.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in Human or Child Development and Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, Prevention Science, Developmental Psychology, Developmental Neuroscience or an equivalent field; evidence of scholarly work, including a strong research record, and/or participation in grant submissions or success at grant funding (required for Associate Professor level); strong interpersonal skills, including effective oral and written communication skills; and teaching experience in higher education.
