Position Summary

Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for Radiologists to join the Departments of Small and Large Animal Clinical Sciences. Entry rank will be commensurate with experience, as the candidate can be considered for an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor position. The diagnostic imaging service is supported by 7 dedicated technicians and a full array of equipment including 5 ultrasound machines (3 GE P5, 1 GE S8and 1 GE Logiq 9), wireless digital radiography (wireless Canon systems), a GEfluoroscopic catheter laboratory, large animal fluoroscopy unit, gamma camera with Mirage software, GE Brightspeed 16-slice Helical CT scanner, and a SiemensEspree 1.5 Tesla MRI with DTI, spectroscopy and functional MR capability. Inaddition, the hospital uses McKesson PACS with medical grade workstations andability to remote log in for consultations when needed.

The role of the successful applicant will encompass clinical service, education, and research/scholarly activity. The amount of time dedicated to each of these endeavors is flexible and will be geared towards the interests, strengths, and qualifications of the applicant. Candidates may apply for either the Tenure System or Health Profession (HP) System appointment in veterinary radiology. Tenure system appointments require a greater percentage of time dedicated to both independent and collaborative, externally funded research, with less time devoted to clinical service. Health Profession (HP) appointments are unique to Michigan State University and are predicated on the need to enhance programs in clinical education, patient care services, and clinical research. Health Profession appointments emphasize clinical service and teaching, although these positions are flexible to allow ample time for research and scholarly activity. Numerous opportunities for on-campus collaboration exist, including ongoing work with the Department of Radiology in the College of Human Medicine which is located adjacent to the Veterinary Medical Center. Both tenure system and HP appointments are expected to contribute to preclinical and clinical education of veterinary students, interns, and residents.

Doctorate -Veterinary Medicine- DVM

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications include: DVM/VMD or equivalent degree, eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the U.S., and (for foreign-trained candidates) permanent residency status.Departmental resources are available to assist with gaining this status. Specialty board certification or board eligibility in radiology/diagnostic imaging (DACVR, ECVDI) is required, but individuals completing ACVR/ECVDI residency training programs are encouraged to apply.
