Position Summary

The Department of Educational Administration at Michigan State University is seeking outstanding candidates for anticipated fixed-term (non-tenure stream) faculty positions in Educational Administration which includes Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education: K-12 Administration; and Education Policy. This is a part-time position (one or two-semester appointment). Primary responsibilities will be at the East Lansing campus or teaching online, but may include occasional travel to off-campus sites in Birmingham or Detroit if the class is hybrid.

Responsibilities will include some combination of the following: teaching master's or doctoral level courses related to teaching and learning; school or postsecondary administration and leadership; education policy; education legal issues; and educational finance. Position’s rank will be at the level of Assistant Instructor, Instructor or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications. Appointment will be for one or two semesters beginning Fall 2018. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications

Minimum Requirements

A doctorate degree (Assistant Professor) in education with a focus on Higher and Adult education, K-12 Administration or Education Policy, or related disciplines; outstanding candidates with a master's degree and exceptional experience will be considered (as an Instructor rank);

Appropriate teaching experience and relevant college-level teaching, specifically in higher/adult education, K-12 Administration or Education Policy; commitment to working as part of a team; and excellent communication and leadership skills.

Desired Qualifications

A background in education administration as a teacher, administrator, or policy maker at the school, district, postsecondary or state levels, and ability to teach introductory graduate courses and seminars.
