Position Summary

The Department of Chemistry at Michigan State University seeks outstanding candidates for a fixed-term Laboratory Lecturer position in Chemistry for fall and spring semesters.. Qualifications include a BS in Chemistry or the equivalent and experience in general chemistry laboratory instruction or in organic chemistry laboratory instruction. Responsibilities will include instructing and grading three laboratory sections of first-semester general chemistry laboratory (CEM 161) and/or two laboratory sections of organic chemistry laboratory (CEM 255). CEM 161 is a general chemistry laboratory course for STEM majors and CEM 255 is an organic chemistry laboratory course, with typical enrollment of approximately 24 students per laboratory section.

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and experience teaching a diverse population of students in an undergraduate laboratory environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding teaching and mentoring skills, strong content knowledge, and the ability to work with undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff in a collaborative environment.
