DescriptionUnder the direction and supervision of a collaborating physician, the Nurse Practitioner for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s Neurosurgery Department will support an established and growing academic clinical practice and will play a critical role in providing out-patient and in-patient clinical care to patients with neurosurgery disorders.  Specific responsibilities include: providing and coordinating clinical care, and facilitating seamless care plans; screening patients to determine the need for medical attention including recording patient history and pertinent data; performing physical examinations, collecting specimens for testing, when needed and initiating laboratory studies; interpreting testing results and x-rays, and identifying and reviewing abnormal findings with the collaborating physician; providing education to patients and their families; following up on referrals to ensure patient compliance with health care recommendations; facilitating the design and implementation of value-based quality initiatives; providing comprehensive documentation and communication with other healthcare providers; contributing to staff conferences; working with research staff to support clinical investigations; and working closely with other departments and physicians to coordinate internal and external ancillary services. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience: 
Certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner by the Pennsylvania Board of Medical Education and Licensure. 

Required Skills and Abilities: 
*Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems within established policies, and use independent judgment. 
*Demonstrated ability to manage projects. 
*Must maintain continuing education requirements for licensure, and remain up-to-date in area of practice. 
*Demonstrated ability to operate all standard office equipment and software including MS Office. 
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.*Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and patients. 

Preferred:
