The Associate Professor of Music and Associate Chaplain for Worship Arts is intended to prepare artistic leaders for the church and academy in Wheaton and throughout the world, while supporting and developing Wheaton College resources in worship arts. Reporting to both the Chaplain and the Dean of the Conservatory of Music, the Associate Professor of Music and Associate Chaplain for Worship Arts will: 1) provide leadership in developing Worship Arts curricular and co-curricular offerings of the college. 2) recruit, train, supervise, and mentor student worship leaders for Chapel Bands and the Worship Apprenticeship Program, and 3) oversee planning of the musical and other artistic elements of Chapel music offerings, and 4) teach in areas such as arts theology, service planning, and worship leadership, depending on qualifications and experience. This tenure-track faculty position in worship arts to begin as early as February 1, 2019, but not later than August 15, 2019. Candidates should have a record of excellence in worship ministry in the church and academy. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a master’s degree in music (preference will be given to those with an earned doctorate), and have a minimum of 3-5 years of worship arts experience. Other desired qualifications include a commitment to the liberal arts, demonstrated discipleship and spiritual maturity; strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a highly collegial fashion, and recruitment abilities and experience.
