Texas State University is planning a new civil engineering program with classes intended to start in fall 2019. The innovative curriculum focuses on the breadth of concepts associated with urban-based, technology-enhanced infrastructure. Currently, the program seeks to fill a tenure-line assistant or associate professor position in environmental engineering to begin fall 2019.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of funded research, exhibit a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and perform university and professional service. Required Qualifications

● An earned doctorate in civil or environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline.
● For an applicant to be considered for the rank of associate professor they must have al demonstrated record of discipline specific research publications in internationally recognized journals and conferences; experience writing and securing grants and contracts; and evidence of teaching excellence.
● Professional Licensure/Registration (PE) or the ability to obtain a PE license within 3 years of initial hire.
● To be considered for the rank of associate professor, as well as for tenure, candidates must meet the relevant requirements of the Ingram School of Engineering, the College of Science and Engineering, the University, and the Texas State System Board of Regents.

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience configuring an environmental engineering laboratory for academic and research activities.
● Ability to work across multiple specialties within engineering, particularly in areas related to Smart City technologies and applications.
● Strong oral and written communication skills.
● Industrial, commercialization, or post-doctoral experience.
