The Department of Agriculture at Texas State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level with the expectation of teaching one summer term. The position is primarily a teaching and research appointment in Agricultural Education with other duties as assigned. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. i) An earned doctorate in agricultural education or closely related discipline;
ii) A record of successful secondary agriculture teaching experience and experience supervising agriculture student teachers at the university level;
iii) Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, educational agencies, and industry representatives;
iv) Documented evidence of willingness to contribute to a strong undergraduate teaching program in agricultural education and graduate program in Integrated agricultural sciences;
v) The potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program that complements existing programs in the Department of Agriculture at Texas State;
vi) Demonstrated ability to serve as a) coordinator of the annual Texas State University Invitational Career Development Event (CDE), b) Collegiate FFA faculty advisor, and © representative of Texas State University at the Texas FFA Convention and Vocational Agriculture Teachers of Texas (VATAT) professional development conference; and
vii) Proficiency in computer software applications including those for designing web pages and posting course materials, etc. on the Internet.
i) Demonstrated ability to be an effective team player in a multidisciplinary environment;
ii) Research publications in the peer-reviewed journal (s);
iii) Experience in writing grant proposals; and
iv) Knowledge in agricultural mechanics (Ag Mech experience).
