The Department of History at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in African American History since 1865.Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in history or related fields is required by time of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach U.S. history survey courses and specialized undergraduate and graduate courses and to be able to direct theses in African American History. Candidates should demonstrate an active research agenda with a record of scholarship that complements the strengths of the department. Participation in departmental programs, service, and governance is expected.Preferred Qualifications
The Department prefers a specialization in pre-World War II African American history, the history of race and political economy, and/or the social history of African American freedom struggles, but all sub-fields in post-1865 African American history will be considered.Application Procedures
