The School Psychology Program at Texas State University seeks an energetic colleague to join our five full-time faculty members for a tenure track, open rank position.

Texas State University is a Hispanic-Serving Institution of nearly 39,000 students located along the beautiful San Marcos River in San Marcos, TX, which is midway between Austin and San Antonio. Established in 1969, Texas State’s school psychology program offers comprehensive training and preparation of school psychologists. The program is approved by both the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the International School Psychology Association (ISPA), and the on-campus clinic provides supervised training for assessment for autism, learning disabilities and other conditions.

This position involves teaching, research, service, and program support in a NASP-approved Specialist in School Psychology program. Preferences include teaching and research experience in the practice of school psychology with diverse students, including English language learners. Other duties will include program leadership, supervision of practica and internship, student advisement and mentoring, maintaining an active research program, and service to the program, department, and university.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications for Assistant Professor rank:
• Applicant must have doctoral degree (conferred on or before August 1, 2019) from a recognized school psychology program approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) or accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
• Applicant must be eligible for Texas licensure as a psychologist and a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP). Also required is a theoretical orientation consistent with broadly defined school mental health service programs.
• Applicant must have a record of, or demonstrated potential for, excellence in scholarly activity as evidenced by publications, presentations, grants, etc.

Required qualifications for Associate Professor and Professor ranks:
• Applicant must have doctoral degree from a recognized school psychology program approved by National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) or accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
• Applicant must be eligible for Texas licensure as a psychologist and a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP). Also required is a theoretical orientation consistent with broadly defined school mental health service programs.
• Applicant must have a sustained record of excellence in scholarly activity as evidenced by publications, presentations, grants, etc. commensurate with rank.
• Applicant must demonstrate consistent excellence in teaching at the university level.
•To be eligible for hire at the associate professor or professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on University and department established standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications for Assistant Professor rank:
• Demonstrated potential for securing external funding for research.
• Potential for success in advising, recruiting, and teaching graduate students in school psychology.
• At least two years of experience in PK-12 schools with culturally and linguistically diverse students.
• Demonstration of the potential for service to the department and university.
• Successful teaching experience of school psychology courses for diverse classrooms in university settings.
• Experience conducting Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments, working in university-based clinics, proficiency in Spanish, experience working with English Language Learners including Spanish-speaking students, demonstration of cultural competence.

Preferred qualifications for Associate Professor and Professor ranks:
• Experience securing external funding for research.
• Experience with advising, recruiting, and teaching graduate students in school psychology.
• At least two years of experience in PK-12 schools with culturally and linguistically diverse students.
• Evidence of sustained leadership in service to the department, university, and profession.
• Experience conducting Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments, working in university-based clinics, proficiency in Spanish, experience working with English Language Learners including Spanish-speaking students, demonstration of cultural competence.
• Successful teaching experience of school psychology courses for diverse classrooms in university settings.
