SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the position of Bilingual Tutor in the Liberty Partnerships Program. The Bilingual Tutor will assist the Director and Coordinator in implementing the Liberty Partnerships Program, an after-school, day school and summer program designed to promote successful graduation, college readiness and career development among high school students. Some daytime hours may be required. It requires a flexible work schedule. Night and weekends may occasionally be required for special events. The Bilingual Tutor for the Liberty Partnerships Program reports to the LPP Director, and will take direction from the Program & Education Coordinator. This is a part-time, grant-funded position.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a must
  • College background required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience or willingness to work with disadvantaged youth
  • Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge in English Language Arts ELL and/or ESL experience a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interact with English language learners in order to assess their academic needs, work with the LPP team to develop learning plans and assist with designing curriculums.
  • Tutor LPP students based on assessed areas of need, tutor for Regents exams, and assist with homework.

Special Information: Programming occurs at local middle and high schools during day and after-school hours, at the Monticello Center for Workforce Development, and on the SUNY Sullivan campus in the summer.

This is a part-time position: Tutors will receive $15-20 per hour depending on experience, and may work up to 25 hours per week depending on the needs of the program, and whether school is in session.

Employment is contingent upon passing NYSED background check.
