SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the part-time position of Executive Director – Sullivan County Community College Foundation. In partnership with the Foundation and College Boards, the incumbent will develop and communicate a broad vision for philanthropic support and investment in the College. Working with the President’s Office and the Office of Community Outreach, the incumbent will direct external relationship building for the College with a variety of constituencies; helping to identify Sullivan County Community College as a leading institution for collaborations, alliances, and charitable opportunity. The Director shall also manage the planning and execution of all fundraising and development related communications and activities of the College. This position reports to the President and the SUNY Sullivan Foundation Board.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, business, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred) and seven to ten years of experience in foundation and development work on behalf of a college or a non-profit equivalent (special events, fundraising, public relations or development preferred).
  • Excellent computer skills and a willingness to learn college interfaces including Jenzabar and a variety of software packages including, but not limited to, MS Office, Access, Word, Excel, Quick Books, Publisher and Power Point. Knowledge of graphic programs encouraged.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to positively represent the SUNY Sullivan Foundation and College by interacting effectively with students, parents, staff, volunteers, faculty, alumni, administrators and community leaders from varying backgrounds.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive desirable.
  • Plan, develop and execute strategies for obtaining private donations; identifying, cultivating and soliciting regular and major gift support from individuals, foundations and corporations.
  • Create and maintain for the Board and President a “Donor Profile” for each potential and prior donor to include an annual giving capacity report and strategy for philanthropic asks.
  • Provide stewardship in recognition of donor philanthropy.
  • Identify and engage resources including alumni, Board members, Advisory Committee members, faculty, staff, parents, publications and the internet to explore connections, interests and capacity of potential donors.
  • Supervise systematic efforts to deepen relations with alumni and to identify, solicit, steward, maintain and upgrade annual giving support and special campaigns for the College
  • Develop and provide ongoing promotion of planned giving opportunities
  • Develop major gifts -Identify major giving opportunities and undertake solicitations of interested donors with the capability of making philanthropic investments
  • Identify and develop grants and sponsorship opportunities in collaboration with academic and administrative leadership
  • Lead planning for communication activities that support relationships between the College and its external constituents including trustees, alumni, parents, donors, and friends
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the Foundation’s professional and support personnel, planning and administration, including the annual budget, and ongoing maintenance of the Jenzabar database
  • Assist the admissions and financial aid offices to award scholarship grants, and steward scholarship donors
  • Coordinate as appropriate with the system-wide SUNY Impact Foundation
