The PCC Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is one of 19 SBDCs located throughout Oregon and is part of the Oregon Small Business Development Center Network. They provide one-on-one confidential business advising to entrepreneurs in all stages of business and they provide a variety of entrepreneurial training programs designed to provide practical information that entrepreneurs can use in their business the next day.

Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full class assignments.

All newly hired part-time Faculty will be placed on Step 1.

Full term pay rate may vary by course. Actual term pay is based on the course catalog contact hours multiplied by the appropriate hourly rate.

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees. Employment in these positions will require, as a condition of employment, payment of monthly union dues or a monthly fair share fee in lieu of dues through automatic payroll deduction.

Portland Community College will hire only United States citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete the designated Immigration Service Employers Verification I-9 form. Responsibilities/Duties -Instruct students, using approved course outcome guides developed by college-wide subject area Faculty.
-Assess and grade student achievement of learning outcomes.
-Use student feedback to improve teaching.
-Be available for a reasonable amount of student contact to respond to questions and to resolve problems related to the course through time spent before or after class or through telephone or e-mail exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
-Attend one staff meeting per term as directed by the College and when notified by the Division Dean.
-Provide additional hours of course-related student conferences or tutoring over and above classroom instruction when courses are designated as requiring such. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications for Part-time Instructors -Entrepreneurial Education:

-Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (Master's degree preferred) or business-related field
-Small business management, previous ownership, top management experience in small business or other business experience in a significant management capacity for at least five years.
-Previous teaching experience with adult learners preferred.

Minimum Qualifiications for Business Advisors: SBDC business advisors provide direct business management and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners who are growing their businesses.

-Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (Master's degree preferred) or business-related field.
-Small business management, previous ownership, top management experience in small business or other business experience in a significant management capacity for at least ten years.
-Ability to relate to a diverse group of people. Primary contacts will be a broad cross-section of the general public.
Ability to analyze and research issues and work with others toward a solution.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to work with a minimum of supervision while maintaining excellent records.
-Familiarity with business software (word processing, spread sheets, database software, QuickBooks or other accounting software).
-A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative manner with entrepreneurs, business owners and other resources in the SBDC Network and with partner organizations.
