Term pay rate may vary by course. Actual term pay is based on the course catalog contact hours multiplied by the appropriate hourly rate. All newly hired part-time Faculty will be placed on Step 1.

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees. Employment in these positions will require, as a condition of employment, payment of monthly union dues or a monthly fair share fee in lieu of dues through automatic payroll deduction.
Portland Community College will hire only United States citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete the designated Immigration Service Employers Verification I-9 form. Responsibilities/Duties -Instruct students, using approved course outcome guides developed by college-wide subject area Faculty.
-Assess and grade student achievement of learning outcomes.
-Use student feedback to improve teaching.
-Be available for a reasonable amount of student contact to respond to questions and to resolve problems related to the course through time spent before or after class or through telephone or e-mail exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
-Attend one staff meeting per term as directed by the College and when notified by the Division Dean.
-Provide additional hours of course-related student conferences or tutoring over and above classroom instruction when courses are designated as requiring such. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BY COURSE OFFERING:
AVS-120 Airplane: Private Pilot Ground
AVS-130 Instrument Ground
-Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate; Airplane and Instrument Instructor Ratings (CFII SEL) and 200 hours dual instruction given; or
-Current FAA Certified Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate with classroom teaching experience in these areas with student evaluations / references.
-Current TSA Flight Instructor security training.
-Willing to commit to full term.

AVS-140 Airplane: Comm Pilot Ground
AVS-230 Airplane: Flight Instructor Grd
-Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate with Single- and Multi-engine Airplane and Instrument Instructor Ratings (CFII SEL MEL) held for at least 24 calendar months;
-400 hours dual instruction given; and
-Current TSA Flight Instructor security training.
-Willing to commit to full term.

AVS-110 Helicopter: Private Ground
AVS-150 Helicopter: Commercial Ground
-Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate; Helicopter and Instrument Instructor Ratings (CFII RH) and 200 hours dual instruction given; or
-Current FAA Certified Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate with classroom teaching experience in these areas with student evaluations / references.
-Current TSA Flight Instructor security training.
-Willing to commit to full term.

AVS-260 Helicopter: CFI Ground
-Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate with Helicopter and Instrument Instructor Ratings (CFII RH) held for at least 24 calendar months;
-400 hours dual instruction given; and
-Current TSA Flight Instructor security training.
-Willing to commit to full term.

AVS-137 Applied Aerodynamics
-Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate; Helicopter or Airplane Rating;
-400 hours dual instruction given;
-Classroom teaching experience in these areas with student evaluations / references;
-Current TSA Flight Instructor security training.
-Willing to commit to full term.

AVS-147 Aircraft Systems & Structure
-FAA A&P Certificate;
-Commercial Pilot Certificate; Airplane or Helicopter rating;
-Two years field experience as pilot, mechanic or flight instructor.
-Willing to commit to full term.

Flight Instructors:
Note: All flight instructors are hired by, and employees of, Hillsboro Aviation Inc. Must comply with FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) requirements for instruction under Part 141 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. These requirements include Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor Certificate with ratings appropriate to the courses being taught (usually Instrument Instructor and Multi-Engine Instructor ratings for airplanes).
-Recommendation by a Chief Instructor for whom the applicant has instructed and demonstrated instructional skills in a 141 proficiency check for the syllabus being used
-At least 50 hours of duel flight instruction given
-For helicopters, completion of a Robinson Factory Safety Course
-Plus at least one of the following, with preference given to those with more:
-Experience as a Chief of Assistant Chief Instructor
-AT least 5 students graduated with at least and 80% pass-first-time rate
-A minimum of 200 hours of dual-given
-Previous classroom teaching experience (PCC experience preferred)
-Graduate from PCC's AVS program (Honor students preferred)
-Outstanding performance on the pre-assignment evaluation below
-For helicopters, an instrument rating (all airplane instructors have this rating)
-Participation in the FAA "Wings" safety program

*Instructors shall have earned required academic credential at a regionally accredited institution. Special/Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:

-AAS in PCC's Aviation Science Program

-Currently engaged in Part 141 flight instruction

AVS-140 Airplane: Comm Pilot Ground
AVS-230 Airplane: Flight Instructor Grd
-AAS in PCC's Aviation Science Program;
-Classroom teaching experience with student evaluations;
-Currently engaged in Part 141 flight instruction listed as Flight Instructor for Hillsboro Aviation

AVS-110 Helicopter: Private Ground
AVS-150 Helicopter: Commercial Ground
-AAS in PCC's Aviation Science Program
-Classroom teaching experience with student evaluations
-Currently engaged in Part 141 flight instruction
-Listed as flight instructor for Hillsboro Aviation

AVS-260 Helicopter: CFI Ground
-AAS in PCC's Aviation Science Program;
-Classroom teaching experience with student evaluations;
-Currently engaged in Part 141 flight instruction listed as Flight Instructor for Hillsboro Aviation

AVS-137 Applied Aerodynamics
-AAS in PCC's Aviation Science Program;
-Classroom teaching experience with student evaluations;
-Currently engaged in Part 141 flight instruction;

AVS-147 Aircraft Systems & Structure
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to above):
-FAA IA Certificate;
-Flight Instructor Certificate;
