The Digital Marketing and Content Specialist contributes to the content, development, and implementation of web and digital communications for Miami University. This is done by participating in the production of specific web and online projects with a specialized focus on marketing and writing. The successful candidate is creative and innovative, works collaboratively with others, and communicates key messages while tailoring content and style of writing to specific audiences.

Duties/Physical Demands:
  • Writes creative marketing copy for the institution's top-level pages
  • Arranges copy and assists in page layout within the content management system
  • Enhances text with other digital content, such as images and video, when required
  • Maintains best practices and industry standards for digital communications
  • Assists with recruitment and marketing campaigns
  • Consults with clients to determine project scope, expectations, deadlines, and necessary resources
  • Collaborates effectively with a broad range of campus constituencies and works as part of a cross-functional team
  • Manages multiple assignments, producing quality work under tight deadlines

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • One to three (1-3) years writing experience in a marketing environment
  • Working knowledge of HTML

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One to three (1-3) years experience writing for higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content management systems, such as Cascade Server, Drupal, and WordPress
  • Experience developing information architecture
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Accessibility standards
  • Ability to optimize images for web use
  • Experience in UX design and user testing
