The Department of Economics and Business at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia seeks applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Business. This is a one-year, sabbatical leave replacement appointment with benefits beginning July 1, 2019.

The business program strives to prepare students for leadership positions in a global society, and offers a major with tracks in general business, international business, and finance, and a new entrepreneurship track, along with business and international business minors and a new minor in entrepreneurship. The position carries a teaching load of six courses during the academic year. Courses include “Introduction to Business,” “International Finance,” “Corporate Finance,” “Investments,” and “Business Senior Seminar in Strategic Management.” Other duties include working with students outside of class (e.g. office hours) and participating in department and university activities.

Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to teaching excellence and innovation at a liberal arts institution. Applicants with a Ph.D. in a related field and college teaching experience are preferred, but ABDs and master’s degree candidates will be considered. Successful applicants must also demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence, scholarly promise, and a strong interest in teaching at a single-sex, undergraduate, liberal arts institution. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal history background check.
