DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Sponsored Program Administrator Iwill be responsible for contributing to the operation and services of the Sponsored Programs Office by providing centralized administrative support for assigned caseload of the departments, units, and schools to include Title III programs. The Sponsored Program Administrator Iwill serve as liaison between the faculty and the sponsoring agency and between activity directors and Title III director.Provide proposal submission and award management support, formulate, and implement internal operating procedures, research funding opportunities for investigators and advise faculty, provide technical assistance, review award agreements to ensure compliance, and convene pre-proposal and other required meetings. Manage Title III program activities and fiscal and accounting functions in collaboration with grants accounting and ensure that the budget is allocated.Review and interpret sponsored program announcements to ensure that applications conform to requirements, have received all appropriate approvals, and are submitted by the deadline. Provide review and institutional approval of financial commitments and obligations under awards, analyze and interpret financial data for assigned awards including reconciliation of expenditure, and verify that the internal review process is complete. Serve as point of contact for project audits. Provide accurate determination of gifts v. grants, submission of required award documentation, establishment of institutional records regarding awards, risk analysis, preparation, issuance, and amendment of subawards, and follow-up with investigators on effort certification process. Track personnel cost information for grants and contracts, maintain caseload records and files, and ensure all closeout obligations are met and files are retained under the record retention obligations. Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and three years of entry-level sponsored programs experience, or an equivalent combination of experience/training may be substituted for the required education. Must be knowledgeable of university operations. Excellent skills in the areas of critical thinking, financial analysis, organization, problem solving, attention to details, decision-making, and presentation required. Ability to prioritize multiple grants, conduct funding opportunity searches, and meet firm deadlines required. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills are essential in building positive internal and external working relationships. Must be able to provide direction and guidance, work independently with minimum supervision and with colleagues in a team effort, develop outreach communication effort, maintain databases and reports, and analyze data. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and in the use of a variety of sponsor electronic interfaces to manage proposal submission and award management obligations.
